At This Event, Mid-Century German Operas Will Blow You Away

This upcoming opera is so good, you will swear that you are in Berlin! On Friday, November 30th, Opera in Concert will present A Night in Berlin, featuring mid-century German operas sung in English and a few other theatrical surprises. Whether you plan a date night or simply want to enjoy a Friday night out on the town, A Night in Berlin offers the perfect opportunity to soak up local yet internationally-influenced culture!

A Night in Berlin will feature musical stylings taken from Mahagonny Songspiel (1927) by Bert Brecht and Kurt Weill and The Tide (1946) by Boris Blacher. Both are mid-century German operas that will be performed in English. The evening will also feature the jazzy opera that created a riot when it premiered in 1927 in addition to a tense psychological drama involving four characters trapped on a half-sunken wreck.

Featured performers include Rachel Catlett, Gabrielle Gilliam, Stephanie Smittle, Steven Brennfleck, Doug Brunker, Edward Crafts, Joshua Hughes, and John Kuether. Stephen Dubberly will direct from the keyboard.

General admission tickets to A Night in Berlin are 20 dollars for adults. Students may enjoy reduced admission for 10 dollars per ticket.
